According to astrologers, historians and researchers, what is the Legendary story of Virgo?
First, Virgo is known as the "sign of service" and Virgo people are always happy to serve. They are patient, caring and eager to help. And, their mission in life revolves around attending to the needs of others.
In Greek Mythology, Virgo is symbolized by the maiden and is linked with a number of Goddesses. Such as, the Goddess of Athena, Hygiea, Astraea and the virgin daughter of Zeus.
The Legend of Virgo begins with a story of a group of giants, called " Titans" , which ruled the world. Two titan brothers, Prometheus and Epimetheus were asked to create humans and animals while giving them various gifts.
When it became time for humans to receive, the only gift he gave was the gift of fire. Which made humans superior to other species, for fire could keep them warm, make tools and develop commerce and science.
However, Jupiter, Chief of all Gods, became angry at the secret of fire given to humans. For this, Prometheus was bound to a rock on Mount Caucasus where an eagle constantly tore at his liver. In addition, the earth received a curse delivered by the first woman. Her name was " Pandora " meaning " a gift of all the Gods ".
Pandora brought with her a box, which she was told never to open. But, Pandora became curious and she lifted the box open. Out came horrible plagues, sickness, death, anger, envy and revenge to occupy the mind. Yet, at the bottom of the box lay the one thing that did not escape, that was "Hope".
So, terrible times came upon the earth and the Gods' abandon the earth and went to live in heaven. However, the very last Goddess to leave was " Astraea " ( Virgo ) the Goddess of Innocence, Purity and Hope. After her last attempt to purify the earth, Astraea would finally leave the earth to live in heaven.
Most importantly, after leaving the earth Astraea was placed among the Stars and became the "Constellation of Virgo". The legend is that one day the Golden Age will come again, and Astraea ( Virgo ) will return to earth.
