DID ANCIENT SOCIETIES PRACTICE ASTROLOGY?

 ANCIENT STARGAZERS

Do you sometimes look up to a huge, endless sky to see stars twinkling during a clear night? Looking up to the heavens for guidance or meaning.  For this reason,  ancient astrologers charted the movement of planets and stars. They even developed calendars for marking and measuring the passage of time.

Astrology became a fascinating insight that revealed how all things are connected.  A microcosm of the universe.  It's been said,  In ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt, the written sign for God was a star.  And, researchers say,  the study of the Sun, the moon, the stars and eclipses began well before recorded history.

Some historians say,  the path to the stars was recorded 6000 yrs. before the birth of Christ.
Oh yes,  astrology is one of our oldest and most treasured heritages.  But,  did ancient societies truly practice astrology.?

Well,  it's been noted that astrological systems were practiced in ancient Egypt, Babylon, Sumeria, China, etc.  Some researchers say,  in many ancient societies astrology and religion were linked together.

In fact,  most Priests were the astrologers and there were many written books of sacred learning that included astrology.  However,  the books were destroyed in the city of Alexandria, Egypt. Sadly, destroyed by the Romans and dominant religions.

Yet,  astrology was brought to the western world when Alexander the Great conquered Sumeria and Chaldea in 280 B.C.  The astronomers of Alexandria discovered a large number of ancient clay tablets referencing astrology.

The astronomers realized,  The Chaldeans had a tradition of recording Lunar and Solar eclipses and the movement of Planets for about
" Four hundred thousand years ".
Wow !!   Now that's incredible!
